Hobbit-LOTR Fans Share Their Memories of Middle-earth

  1. Just a guy who basically grew on the books and lotr trilogy says:

This is it. Thank you P.J. for introducing us to the world of Tolkien.

To a 9 year old kid watching the first movie was a revelation, it was a start of the new era, a era where Middle-Earth existed. And that notion accompanies, now, a 22 year old kid, who didn’t stopped believing in magic, courage, determination, harmony, friendship, family. I took the best from each characters that I’ve grow to love and admire.

Your work and the work of Tolkien will accompany me for the rest of my life. It will inspire me for the rest of my life. For that I couldn’t be more grateful. I wish I could say it personally. Not for the movies, well…for them too, but mostly for the emotions, values, smiles, tears, lotr drinking games (oh yeah) and marathons of all the movies, from my collage years – for the memories of them, for the mumbling of the songs on my new analyst job when I think nobody is watching.

Maybe, one day, you may even think to do a new set of movies. And you will have a full support and love from all over the world.

Maybe not. Still for my generation and for the next one (cause hell, my child will grow with me telling bilbo’s story) only you can be accepted for the job. You and you fantastic team. All of them. Even the wetas – the bugs, not the members of weta company.

I wish you all the luck.

And as for me, New Zealand will have one more tourist soon enough. Not this year probably, but one of the following for sure.

  2. CC & Krys says:

Thank you Peter Jackson for bringing the magic of the Tolkien books to the big screen.

We loved the books since our father introduced them to us, and have read them cover to cover (literaly) several (dozen?) times between the two of us, since. We have seen the director’s cut LOTR movies just about as many times. Sadly, we was not quite old enough when they were released in theater, or we certianally would have seen them there as well.

Our favorite momens in the movies have always been the big battles, and two small engagements. The battles were those of Minas Tirith and Helm’s Deep (in no specific order). The engagements were the one in which we meet Farimir and the one in which Aragorn falls off the cliff.

Thank you for being such a fantastic director and thank you again to you and also the casting director for choosing such amazing actors.

We hope to travel to New Zealand for my 18th, so thank you also for inspiring our love for that place.

    Yours,
    The Clark twins

  3. If it hadn’t been for the movies I wouldn’t have found the books and I love them both. When I was reading Lord of the Riings after seeing the fellowship I could hear in my mind the voices of each character as I read it brought to life even more…thanks every one who did these movies! Awesome!

  4. raouf kazemi says:

mr peter jackson,i am raouf from iran.i always follow your movies and im waiting for your next job.i wish for you

  5. I honestly wish I could thank all the cast and crew personally for all they’ve brought to all us fans who have enjoyed these movies so much. Of course I would love to just give Peter a big hug and thank him for getting this idea and making these films! Honestly I may never have read the books if I hadn’t read the movies. I’m still working my way through Lord of the Rings but I have finished the Hobbit and I have loved it all so much! When I first watched The Lord of the Rings with my Dad when I was ten I loved them from the second they started (SERIOUSLY!!!) We borrowed the theatrical versions from my grandpa since we didn’t own them at the time. And now we had the extended versions of Lord of the Rings. And I’ve watched them so many times I honestly can’t even count now. I love every single scene and I cherish the wonderful story and heart of it. It was because of my love for Lord of the Rings that I’ve decided I want to become a film director and actress when I grow up (Of course i could be now I just haven’t had the opportunity yet). I was reading the Hobbit when i found out a movie adaptation of it was coming out and I was over the moon when I got to go see it for my birthday! I’ll be turning 15 this year and am going to see The Hobbit: The Battle of the five armies! I cannot wait to see this final installment, and I am so thankful that I have got to witness the releases of these Hobbit movies. Since I was only a baby when the Lord of the Rings was in theaters. I honestly hope to meet you someday Peter or any of the cast or crew just to thank you and tell you how much all of this has meant to me in the past five years of my life. Blessings and Warm hugs! Love you all!!!

    Dear Peter Jackson,
thank you very much for bringing the magical world of Tolkien books on the cinema.
You are a fantastic director: the best of the best!
You are a sort of medical man, the doctor of the soul: with your wonderful works you make me – and all the fans all over the world- cry, you make me laugh but first of all you make me happy!
When i’m sad i watch a dvd of “The Lord of the Rings” or “The Hobbit” and the sadness go away, dreaming to be part of this world that you represent in a such amazing way.
In your films there are not amazing actors, spectacular special effects, wonderful music but also the values and the poetry of Tolkien works revisited by your creative talent.
I thank you also to let you know the New Zeland that is really a wonderful land so far away from me that i live in Italy.
Moreover, even you said in the press conference that “The battle of the Five Armies” is the last one, i hope and i pray for this, that the “Tolkien estate” will change idea and that in the future there will be other fims adapt on the middle Hearth (directing by P.J of course!).
My fantasy is to meet you and your team one day.

Thank you again and your fantastic team too.
I wish you all the best.
    God bless all of you.

  8. December 13 was a solemn yet strange day, that perpetuated with mixed feelings throughout. Goodbye middle earth is what I said to myself. After almost 15 years, a part of me ceased to exist to rest in immortality.

From the time when we first watched LOTR 1 in a neighboring uncle’s VCR – I remember our dropped jaws when the film ended with Frodo and Sam looking into Mordor territory. We all exclaimed in Hindi “YEH KYA HUA” (What the…) Of course, those were not the days of frequent sequels for us – to the long wait for LOTR 2 (reading all the books in-between) to this epic moment…

THANK YOU Peter Jackson and Team (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) from the bottom of my heart.

Can’t quite explain how I felt when the realization of the conclusion of this saga dawned on me. I was somewhat heavyhearted to leave the theater; joyous at the same time. Alas! I was in India, not in New Zealand or some beautiful Hobbiton country where I could have been with the like-minded lovers of middle earth and understood my feelings better.

So, thought to write you this message/tribute to acknowledge everything you did for me/us.

Thank you Peter Jackson for giving all of is fans something to hold on to. I just took my 7 year old son to see the final film. And his reaction was excitement and heartbreaking. He cried for 2 days and is cherishing everything in his room. Just wanted you to know how these films have touched us. Thank you so much !!!

  10. I Have seen the Hobbit: Battle of the five armies two times now, but no matter how many times i see it, it still strikes a cord in my heart. Thank You Peter Jackson for bringing to life the brilliant writing of J.R.R Tolkien, and bringing forth the awe and master storytelling of Middle Earth. I can’t say enough how grateful i am, Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit have changed my life. One day I hope to see Wellington and the set of the Shire. I hope one day the Silmarilion can be brought to the big screen too. 🙂
    thank you,
    -Grace

Thank you so much Peter Jackson for bringing LOTR and The Hobbit to life. Through out these years you gave us fans something to look forward to. I can honestly say through out every movie I felt like I was apart of it. Some parts made me laugh, while others made me cry. I couldn’t picture any other director doing what you have done it was genius. You brought these books to life and for what it’s worth I look forward to anything else you make.
    Sincerely,
    Justice Bryant
