It’s Here! New Trailer for The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies!

  1. Hobbit Lover says:

This is going to be AWESOME!!! I can’t wait!!!!!

    • Boo Hoo! Walt Disney didn’t only not get to make the Lord of the Rings, but also the Hobbit. Its a shame that they only wanted Peter Jackson to make three books of Lord of the Rings into one film and now Peter Jackson is making one book into three films!

  2. schocoman says:

Looks good, but: I only counted 12 seconds showing our hobbit compared to a length of about 150 seconds in total, I fear, will our protagonist be further marginalized? Did I miss something or where are the “bats” in the original story? Looking forward to the Dol Guldor episode still.

    • ZowieBerner says:

There were swarms of bats flying in the sky at the battle of the five armies, to cast a shadow on the land so the goblins could fight outside at day ( since they’re not really fan of sunlight ).

    • The “bats” were kinda in the original story… and were those flying monkeys?

    • I am so excited to see Bilbo throwing the rope over the wall. Also, as Thorin descends the stairs alone the other Dwarves stand silent looking over the wall. Wonder if this is where Bilbo is exiled by Thorin. Looking very good indeed.

    • Don’t worry, the bats are in the original story!

    • Yuri Stanton says:

In Tolkien’s book, there are war bats and there are crows/ravens that appear during Battle of Five Armies.

  17. This is the meaning of life. Thank you Peter Jackson.

  18. Hi guys !

The trailer really rocks, it makes me wan’t time to accelerate untill the movie premiere.
I have to ask the rest of you how you perceived the scene where Thranduil makes a swordstroke towards an longhaired human or elf (my assumption this is Tauriel). Is Thranduil in anger or in battlerage and actually targets and hits the human/elf or is there a foe in front of the human/elf which we aren’t able to see ? Hopefully the situation is the latter, you can’t go around killing beutifull, sword/bow skilled and battleprowen female elves, which Tauriel happens to be !

    • Dude, that’s obviously Tauriel. And there has already been a tension established in the Desolation of Smaug between Tauriel and Thranduil based on Legolas’ affections for her. My bet with my brother still stands: $20 says she dies while defending Kili, who also dies.

      • That’s a good remark Dude who’s cool and stuff, but in the trailer, Tauriel is kneeling down on the ground looking up and at the same time, holding some dead person’s hand, which you said was Kili. The question is, is he alive before she comes to him or is he dead. Oh and by the way, I wouldn’t bet as high as $20 bucks, I’d bet in change just to be on the safe side.

    • Thatgeekchick says:

I hope Tauriel isn’t killed, because its great that theres a strong female character in the hobbit films (like Eowyn in the lotr films), however, as Tauriel is a character that has been made up by the creative team for the hobbit films, I think that there is a strong possibility that she will be killed in botfa. As she is not in either the hobbit or the lotr books, killing her off would make perfect sense in order to resolve her story line, tie up all the loose ends, and give an explanation as to why she doesn’t appear in any other stories (even though she’s a character made up by p.j, not an original tolkien creation.)
ANother thing; did anyone notice that Gandalf is holding RHadagasts staff? In the first two hobbit films, Gandalf is shown with another staff, different to the one he has in the trailer. Incidentaly, that staff he is shown with in the trailer is the same one he has in the first lotr film, before he takes on the Balrog and becomes Gandalf the White. Rhadagast can’t be killed off, because he is mentioned in the fellowship, so why does Gandalf have his staff??
SOOOOOOO excited for the film!! I’m probably going to be reduced to an emotional, tearfull wreck by the end of it.

  20. I think its not swordstroke. He just simply smash her face. We will know why next month..

  21. looks so good!!! going to see this for my birthday! I’m exited to see Sauron (with the voiced by the talented Benedict Cumberbatch)and the rest of the characters with their stories and how it all continues to LOTR. Going to need to watch all the movies in a row after this!

  22. OMG! OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG! I CAN’T WAIT! IT LOOKS SOOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!!!

  23. Amazing work. God bless you Peter Jackson.

  24. #OneLastTime… until the Silmarillion? =D

  26. Isaac hobbit lord moodie says:

this was kwl peng hashtag swag yolo

  27. I can not wait, looks really great, like the return of the king, all te big action in this one.Just counting the days

  28. What is the song in this trailer?? amazzing

  29. It looks amazing I love all the lord of the rings and this looks like it will be at the top

    • Who knows? I don’t think anything will ever top the Return of the King Paul!

      • How can they justify cutting Beorn

“But even with the Eagles they were still outnumbered. In that last hour Beorn himself had appeared—no one knew how or from where. He came alone, and in bear’s shape; and he seemed to have grown almost to giant-size in his wrath.
…The roar of his voice was like drums and guns; and he tossed wolves and goblins from his path like straws and feathers. He… …broke like a clap of thunder through the ring. The dwarves were making a stand still about their lords upon a low rounded hill. Then Beorn stooped and lifted Thorin, who had fallen pierced with spears, and bore him out of the fray.
…Swiftly he returned and his wrath was redoubled, so that nothing could withstand him, and no weapon seemed to bite upon him. He scattered the bodyguard, and pulled down Bolg himself and crushed him. Then dismay fell on the Goblins and they fled in all directions.”

-The tide was eventually turned, when Beorn himself arrived at the battle, apparently having heard news that a large army of Orcs were on the move. This time he did not appear in his former shape of a giant Man, but in that of a gigantic Bear. Beorn drove through the Orc lines, but paused to carry the wounded Thorin out of the battle with his paw. Beorn then returned to the battle with even greater wrath and smashed the ranks of the Bodyguard of Bolg, ultimately killing Bolg-

From what I heard Beorn doesn’t come smashing through the goblin ranks and wreak havoc… Legolas kills bolg…Dumb. Bolg is supposed to get his head crushed by Beorn. There’s a whole long list of things that were changed. Not changed for the better, changed for the sake of making change. I’ll go see it, But if we don’t get the “HULK SMASH” moment from Beorn that I’m hoping for I’ll be very disappointed. I don’t know how they can cut Beorn out of this movie but I’m sure they will find a way

  30. I guess its down to me now-ha-ha. Well the big day we’ve all been waiting for is finely just around the corner. It seems like just Yesterday the Desolation of Smaug just came out and now its the Battle of the Five Armies!

To all you people around the world who are Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fans, I will say this-LETS PUT THIS MOVIE OVER $2 Billion to show our appreciation to Peter Jackson and all the people that made this happen!

  31. WHERE THE FUCK IS BEORN??????????????????

    • I will see, and no doubt like this movie. I understand their is a need for creative license, especially when you are stretching a 300ish page novel into a 3 part movie. However, I don’t think you can improve upon Tolkien’s story line. The CGI went from ‘hard to take’ to a truly movie enhancing experience. However, changing story lines, replacing and even making up characters, is a bit much.
I’m still confused as to why Glorfindel got axed in the LOTR-FOTR? First Arwen, and the animated version it was Legalos? The original story line plays well into the Simarillion and gives fans who have not delved there at least a taste of the first and second ages of Middle Earth. It seems to be that it would have made sense for those wanting a movie version of the Simarillion of the Lost Tales.
Oh well, I’m sure I’ll watch, and more than once, and it is only a matter of time until I own the boxed sets.
      Until then,
      #OneLastTime
